Top Insights
• Engelmann lacked a built-in Modbus RTU communication module for their
SensoStar heat meters, which created a critical barrier to entering strategic
markets requiring Modbus connectivity,
• We developed a custom Modbus RTU module tailored for the SensoStar device,
bridging this gap seamlessly,
• The solution unlocked access to previously unattainable markets, enabled full
system integration, and enhanced product competitiveness.
The Challenge
Engelmann’s SensoStar heat meters, known for their modularity and precision, lacked
native Modbus RTU capability.
This absence created incompatibility with widely deployed SCADA systems,
building automation networks, and industrial control systems that rely on Modbus RTU
as their standard communication protocol.
Consequently, Engelmann could not penetrate important market segments where
Modbus RTU has established itself as the predominant protocol standard.
This connectivity limitation directly constrained their market expansion opportunities and
diminished their product’s competitive positioning within substantial industry segments.
The Solution
Our engineering team conducted a comprehensive technical assessment of
Engelmann’s SensoStar architecture and developed a galvanically-isolated Modbus RTU interface module specifically designed
for compatibility with SensoStar devices.
This required a tailored engineering approach to enable reliable communication and data integration with the SensoStar heat meter.
Results
• Enabled entry into Modbus-driven markets
• Seamless integration with SCADA and BMS systems
• Strengthened product competitiveness and portfolio offering
